Products Moss poles

Split Collar Pole 160

A moss pole in two half shells that clamp around a plant already growing. You cannot thread a mature Monstera down a tube, which is why almost every retrofit ends with someone cutting the plant back first. This one opens, closes around the existing stem or an existing pole, and latches. Stack the collars as far up as the plant has grown.

Make yours

Tell us the size and this gets drawn to it.

This one is made to order rather than configured on screen: closed diameter moves from 80 to 140 mm. Send a photo of the plant and the spot it has to live in, with the code PP-MP-160, and a size and a drawing come back the same day. 5 to 8 days from there.

These are the figures the piece is drawn to rather than measurements taken off a finished one. Send the pot it has to replace and we will move them.

What it suits

Suits

  • An established Monstera that has outgrown its support
  • Philodendron with exposed aerial roots
  • A plant on a bare bamboo cane that you want to convert

Not for

  • Very young cuttings, where a full pole is easier
  • Stems thicker than 34 mm
  • Hoya

If the plant is small enough to lift out and repot, use the stacking pole. This costs more per litre of moss.

Drawn for Monstera, and each of those pages says why this shape and not another.

Why it is that shape

It is a retrofit, and the geometry follows entirely from that. Every other design in this category assumes you are potting a young plant. This one assumes you are not, and that the aerial roots you most want to capture are already in the air and cannot be moved.

Looking after it

Do not clamp hard against a stem that is still thickening. The latch has three positions for that reason; move it out a notch when the shell starts to mark the stem.

Pigments fade under sustained sunlight.
