Make yours
Tell us the size and this gets drawn to it.
This one is made to order rather than configured on screen: height above medium moves from 240 to 600 mm. Send a photo of the plant and the spot it has to live in, with the code PP-TR-420, and a size and a drawing come back the same day. 6 to 9 days from there.
The numbers
- Size
- 260 mm wide, 420 mm tall, 14 mm thick
- Made to your size
- height above medium, 240 to 600 mm
- What stays as drawn
- Width, thickness, bar pitch and the dovetail stay as drawn. Above 560 mm it becomes three parts rather than two, because a single part longer than 300 mm does not fit the build envelope.
- Lead time
- 6 to 9 days
- Made of
- PETG, printed, four perimeters on the legs and the dovetail
- Colours
- unpigmented natural, warm white, slate grey, moss green (slate grey as standard)
- Water
- Not applicable. The footplate is perforated so it does not create a sealed pan at the bottom of the pot, which would hold a layer of water where the medium can no longer drain.
- Tray
- No tray
- Where it lives
- Indoors
- Weight
- 155 g empty
These are the figures the piece is drawn to rather than measurements taken off a finished one. Send the pot it has to replace and we will move them.
What it suits
Suits
- Hoya carnosa and Hoya pubicalyx
- Cissus
- Jasminum polyanthum
- Passiflora indoors
- Senecio and other twiners
Not for
- Monstera and other aroids with heavy aerial roots, which want a moss pole rather than a bar
- Anything over about 2 kg of top growth
- Plants grown for a hanging habit
Bar spacing is 22 mm, which suits a twining tendril. A plant that climbs by adhesive roots will not grip it.
Drawn for Hoya, and each of those pages says why this shape and not another.
Why it is that shape
A trellis fails in one of two ways: it levers itself out of the pot, or it destroys the root ball while resisting that. The wide perforated footplate answers both, because the load goes into the bottom of the pot rather than into the medium around a spike. The fan is flat because the plants it is for want to be presented in a plane against a wall, and a flat trellis takes half the shelf depth of a round one.
Looking after it
Fit it when you repot, not into an established root ball. Two 90 mm pins pushed into a full pot will cut roots, and the plant pays for it for a month.
